September 14th

Travel Journalism with Jamie Siebrase

10 am – 1 pm

The Bookies Bookstore, 2085 S. Holly Street, Denver, 80222

Love to travel? Love to write? Longtime Denver travel journalist Jamie Siebrase will show students how to combine their passions in this fun and interactive workshop. We’ll start by coming up with a definition for travel writing and dissecting some of the best travel writing of the century. Next we’ll share memories from our favorite trips, near and far. (Sometimes close-to-home adventures are the best adventures, so don’t worry if you haven’t jet-setted to far-flung destinations. If you’ve explored a park or natural area near your home, you’ll have plenty to write about!) After learning about what, exactly, constitutes travel journalism, students will try their hand at writing, too, with opportunities to share their work (only if they’d like). We’ll end by discussing the important process of revision, then chat about career options for travel writers.
